Make any text URL-safe

Spaces, ampersands and non-English characters must be percent-encoded before they go into a URL. Decoding does the reverse, turning %E2%9C%93 back into ✓.

Encode a single parameter value, or a whole URL while keeping its slashes and question marks intact.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between the two encode modes?

Encoding reserved characters is for parameter values; turning it off encodes a full URL but keeps : / ? & = as they are.

Why do I see + instead of %20?

HTML forms encode spaces as +. The decoder treats + as a space for you.

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything runs in your browser with JavaScript — nothing you type or open is sent to our servers.
