How we look after your documents
Your documents are yours. Here is exactly what happens to them, from the moment you open a file to the moment you download it.
Encrypted in transit
Every connection to our website, our API and our storage uses TLS, so files can't be read or changed on the way.
Private storage
Saved projects live in a private storage bucket. Files are only reachable through signed links that expire within the hour.
Encrypted projects
Each saved project document is encrypted with its own AES-256 key, which is only handed to you when you open it.
Payments by Stripe
Card details go straight to Stripe, a PCI-DSS Level 1 provider. We never see or store your full card number.
1. Where your files go
Most PDF work — merging, splitting, rotating, compressing, editing and exporting — runs right on your own device, which keeps it fast and keeps those files off our servers. The result opens in the MojoPDF AI Studio.
If you're not signed in, the project is kept only in your browser. If you're signed in, the files you open in the Studio are saved to your account so you can come back to them on any device — and you can delete a project at any time. When you download a file on a paid plan, we keep a copy for a few days so we can email you a private download link, then delete it automatically.
2. AI features
When you use an AI feature — Chat with PDF, the summarizer, AI OCR, translation or the Studio assistant — only the pages or text the AI needs are sent to our servers and our AI providers to produce the result. We never use your documents to train AI models.
3. Passwords on PDFs
When you protect a PDF, the password is only used to encrypt the file you download — it is never saved with your project. When you open a password-protected PDF, the password is only used to open it. We can't recover a password you have lost.
4. Checked uploads
Every file saved to your account is checked by its real contents, not just its name. PDFs are inspected for scripts and other active content before they open, and images are re-encoded to strip anything hidden in them.
5. You're in control
Delete any project and its files are removed from our storage. Our Privacy Policy sets out what we keep, for how long, and how to ask us to delete your data.
